The Notre Dame de la Médaille Miraculeuse school provides after school homework assistance which is supervised by five helpers.
In the afternoons following school and lunch, the children will be supervised by five helpers who can assist them with homework assignments. The children will be grouped according to ability and what they’ve learned on a daily basis would be reinforced under the careful supervision of a helper.
A special support group will be set up for children with the most serious learning problems, enabling them to progress and catch up with their peers.
There will be study breaks that enable the children to relax and play, what is important for reenergising the mind as well as memory retention.
Orphans and other children at the residence are often those who become the most successful in school.
After-school helpers will receive training from the German-French organisation OIKOS in order to improve their qualifications.
Throughout the year a continuous flow of volunteers and international personnel will arrive for a few months to support children’s education as well as remedial work in French and other subjects.
Their support for children with great reading and writing difficulty in particular, is much valued.
